Our Lady of Guadalupe Construction Update

We are pleased to share with you some news that the community of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Oxnard, CA recently shared with us about the construction of the new church building.

Since we are not architects or engineers, we recently found ourselves trapped in the complicated reality of the world of construction.  In the building plans it is obvious that a floor for the Church will be installed, but we never imagined that the floor in the plans was made of concrete and quite ugly.  When we proposed the installation of a beautiful tile floor we were told that we would have to pay and additional $200,000 cash within the next two months... a seemingly insurmountable task!  Nonetheless, our strong faith in God led Fr. Roberto Saldivar MSpS, pastor of our Parish, to promise to have the money by October.

Trusting in divine providence Fr. Roberto signed the contract and began fund-raising.  We began to sell each floor tile for $40.  Also, the floor was designed to feature the 46 stars that appear on Our Lady of Guadalupe's mantle, and each of these were sold for $5000 (much cheaper, we believe, than the famous Hollywood stars).  Our parishioners responded very generously in their desire to build a beautiful Church for our beloved Virgin of Guadalupe.  On Sunday July 10 we were all surprised to have raised $207,000, enough to install the floor for Our Lady's church.

We humbly share this story with all of you as a testimony of God's divine providence, and how as Fr. Felix Rougier always taught, trusting in it we will never be abandoned.

Please continue to pray that this project go well and be for the Glory of God and the service of his people.

Happy Pentecost! Feliz Pentecostes!

One day, as I was praying,
I saw THE HOLY SPIRIT in a background of beautiful light
A few days later, in the same place, I saw, once again the same Divine Spirit
Followed by a big cross with a heart in the center of it
It is a living heart, beating alive, full of love
( Conchita’s vision of the Cross of the Apostleship-non literal)

AS we celebrate Pentecost Sunday,
 We pray the Lord
to grant every member of the Family of the Cross
To be joyful witnesses
Of the Crucified love
Here in the United States

Un día, mientras oraba, vi al Espíritu Santo en el fondo de una inmensa luz.
Pocos días después, en el mismo lugar, vi nuevamente aquel Divino Espíritu
y luego una cruz grande con un corazón en el centro;

The Provincial House is Moving!

Dear brothers and sisters,
Since 2002, the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit have maintained a quiet but steady presence in the Diocese of Orange. For almost 10 years, the priests and brothers lived in a gray and white ranch style house in Garden Grove, California, worshiping together and working in the ministry of leadership for their Province.
But we all know that from time to time life presents us with the need to make a decision. We are writing to let you know that we have sold our Garden Grove house. The simple fact is that we sense a need to re-configure our ministries, to reshape the way we live, so that our limited resources will be as productive as possible.
We will be forever grateful to Bishop Todd Brown, the clergy and the Catholic community in the Diocese of Orange for their support during these years and for their partnership in ministry.
We plan on relocating our center of operations to Banks, Oregon. We are excited about the many possibilities that the Lord has put in front of us and look forward to the future of the Provincial House in the Archdiocese of Portland. We feel most welcomed by Archbishop John Vlazny, Auxiliary Bishop Ken Steiner, who serves as Pastor of St. Francis Parish in Roy, and the Catholic community there, who have opened the doors of their former convent for us to live it.
Starting July of 2011, the new address for the Provincial House of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit will be:
Missionaries of the Holy Spirit
39085 NW Harrington Road
Banks, Oregon 97106

We ask that for any mail you use our new postal address:

We ask for your prayers and assure you of ours.

In Christ,

Very Rev. Domenico Di Raimondo, MSpS
